It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
