Woman Evades Law Enforcement Following High-Speed Pursuit from California into Mexico
A female individual formerly staying at a women’s sobriety home in California reportedly took a stolen van and engaged in a hours-long law enforcement pursuit ending with her traveling across the border into Mexico on the start of the week.
Auto Theft Discovered from Recovery Residence
According to a police statement, a another female, the owner of the vehicle, 45, reported that her gray minivan from 2004 was stolen, along with her vehicle key. Walters, who operates two women’s sober living homes, identified the suspect as Alyssa Wilson at Diana’s House Sober Living, located approximately 60 minutes north-west of LA.
“The keys were stolen out of my manager’s handbag. I happened to pull up right when it was occurring,” Walters stated, adding that the vehicle is used for the sobriety home’s tasks.
High-Speed Pursuit Develops Across Multiple Counties
Authorities located the van about 12 miles to the north in a nearby city, where they attempted to pull the vehicle over, but Wilson refused to stop and sped away. She reached speeds of about 145km/h on the 118 freeway until the chase proceeded into Los Angeles county. At that point, local sheriff’s deputies handed over the pursuit to the California highway patrol once the driver entered the 405 freeway heading south.
“This incident is particularly unusual in the sense of the road situation allowing drivers to persist on the freeway and prolong this chase,” said a spokesperson from the local law enforcement agency.
The suspect allegedly avoided all the spike strips deployed on the roadway by police, as seen in footage from above.
International Getaway and Aftermath Developments
The chase eventually reached the international border by 1.30pm, prompting the highway patrol to end its pursuit due to jurisdictional constraints.
Walters stated on the following day that the minivan was located in the Mexican city of Tijuana and that she was coordinating with the CHP to retrieve it.
“At the end of the day, I’m not concerned with the car,” she said. “I’m more at ease aware she wasn’t hurt. The minivan is easily substituted.”

The sober living home owner, who has run Diana’s House Sober Living since last October, recognizes that the path to recovery from addiction and emotional distress is often non-linear.
“This is a mental health and addiction crisis,” Walters emphasized. “There is a need for additional assistance. We need greater resources for those that are struggling.”
“Recovery can be messy,” Walters concluded.
